Why Nakshatras Matter

While the 12 zodiac signs (Rasi) represent roughly 30° each, the 27 Nakshatras divide the sky into finer 13.33° segments. This gives a more precise and personally nuanced picture of your Moon's influence than the Rasi alone. In Sri Lankan tradition:

Nakshatra and Porondam Compatibility

In Porondam horoscope matching, the Nakshatra Koota is the primary compatibility check. It examines:

• Gana Koota: Both people's Nakshatras fall into one of three Ganas — Deva (divine, gentle), Manushya (human, balanced), or Rakshasa (fierce, intense). Matching Ganas is ideal; mismatched Ganas are not necessarily a barrier but indicate different emotional styles.
• Nadi Dosha: Each Nakshatra belongs to one of three Nadis — Vata, Pitta, or Kapha. If both people share the same Nadi, Nadi Dosha is formed — traditionally a concern in the context of having healthy children. Some cancellations apply.
